ZAP Disinfectant Spray Review

Let's be honest. This pandemic has been a stressful time in our lives. All I see nowadays is sanitizer bottles everywhere. Geez. I recently discovered a product on Amazon called ZAP Disinfectant Generator. It's a device that turns water and table salt into a very effective disinfectant.
After it was delivered to my house, I opened the package and found a bottle with a spray nozzle, a measuring spoon, a USB cord, and an instruction manual.
How does ZAP Work? According to their Amazon page, "Zap’s effectiveness can be calculated by measuring it’s Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP). ORP indicates the disinfecting power of a solution. ZAP generates an ORP of 700-900 mV*, which can kill bacteria such as e-coli in less than 5 seconds! "
So basically, when you mix water and salt and perform electrolysis on that solution, HOCl acid gets created as a byproduct which is a very effective disinfectant. Luckily, the bottle provided by ZAP can perform electrolysis hassle-free. You just have to plug in the bottle using the USB cable provided.
How to create your disinfectant spray:
1) Pour drinking water/mineral water into the bottle up to the 300ml mark.
2) Add salt to the water by measuring in the spoon provided. (The instruction manual lists out the quantity of salt vs the concentration of the disinfectant)
3) Put the nozzle back on the bottle.
4) Put the bottle on power using the USB cable provided.
5) Use the switch on the button to start the electrolysis process.
6) Wait for a few minutes till the blue light goes off, which indicates the process of completion of the electrolysis.
7) Switch off the main power and use the solution to spray on fruits, veggies, shoes, etc.
The instructional manual is super useful. It further lists out the dos and don'ts of using this spray. I used this spray myself on fruits and floor. An interesting observation - the water smells like pool water after the completion of the electrolysis. I'm guessing that's because of the Cl minus ions that got produced after the electrolysis.
This product intrigued me a lot and I thought, why not write something about it.
